Being a PROUD childless cat lady, it’s safe to say that I am besotted with my cats. Totally besotted.
Here are My Boys.
Sir Archibald The Mischievous on the left. Wilson The Man on the right. Have you ever seen more gorgeous panthers?
Because I adore the little dears, I recently spent a bundle of money to have a Catio built for them. It was finished last week.
The Catio.
Cats being the change-resistant assholes they are, (and I’ve had cats for over 45 years), they aren’t happy in the Catio unless their servant (moi) is in there with them. Like every cat I’ve ever had, new things astound and confound them. They don’t even like their food bowls moved.
(They are also Velcro cats and wherever I am in the house, they must be too)
So, I moved in a camp chair, thinking it would help get them get settled. Not only did it settle them, it settled me.
I sat in the camp chair and noticed the position of the Catio afforded me the best view of the beautiful mountain range to the north, a view I had never noticed or seen before. I felt weirdly safe and protected in the Catio. There were numerous shelves to put things on. The boys felt safe and comfortable with me in there too.
So, I strung some lights, added a little decor, and viola, the Catio became the cat version of a She Shed…The She-Catio.
Now we watch the gloaming of the day there. Together.
The She-Catio.
(I offered it to my neighbor to put her spouse in when he’s on her last nerve She liked the idea. This may become a new enterprise.)
Yes, I do identify as a Crazy Cat Lady. But I’m not alone in my love for the felines of the world:
Cats will outsmart dogs every time — John Grogan
Time spent with cats is never wasted — Sigmund Freud
Cats rule the world — Jim Davis
Like all pure creatures, cats are practical — William S. Burroughs
You never pass up a decorating opportunity, my friend! And as always, it looks mahhhrvalous!
I need to see a selfie in the catio!
